TEDDY GIRLS

I've always had an obsession with the Teddy Boy style, but I never really realised until now that there were Teddy Girls. They added distinct little touches to the basic Teddy Boy look of drape jackets, high necked shirts and colonel ties. They wore amazing coolie hats or straw boaters, espadrilles and cameo brooches, not to mention shitloads of tude.

Ken Russell took the most well known portraits of Teddy Girls and Boys when he documented the whole phenomenon amongst the backdrop of bombed out London neighbourhoods in the late 50s and they're quite fantastic...

I think I have some new fashion idols!
