KING HIT

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for Graham Coxon, that space cadet/guitar master who back in the day regularly managed to get run over by cars whilst on the sauce.

A few months ago I was watching Ian Svenonius’ (from such great bands as Nation of Ulysses, Weird War and The Make-Up) VBS show Soft Focus, in which Ian interviews such musical luminaries as Mark E. Smith, Chan Marshall and Billy Childish. There was an interesting interview with Graham, which sort of hammered home the one constant that seems to run through all the interviews: that most of these people are completely batty/slightly off in the most wonderful way. You really can’t beat Mark E. Smith saying (or should I say drunkenly sort of hissing) the tale of how freaked out his nephews and nieces are of him. Amazing.

Anyway, it sort of rekindled my Graham Coxon thing. He’s a dude. He always had amazing style. This article he penned for The Independent displays that, anyone who quotes The Shooting Party and Gosford Park as hairstyle influences has my vote.

So yeah, just having a bit of a mid 90s gush.
